Common Questions

Quick answers before you reach out

When is the best time to see the Northern Lights?

Late August through mid-April. December through February has the best raw probability (longest dark hours and clearest cold-air skies). September is the best month for most travelers (mild weather, equinox boost on geomagnetic activity). March is the best late-season window (full snowpack, longer aurora viewing window than September). We recommend booking 3+ nights for the best odds — stays of 3+ nights historically push aurora-viewing odds past 90%.

What if the aurora doesn't appear?

Our Aurora Commitment offers conditional rebooking on a future tour during your current Fairbanks visit, subject to availability and at the guide's discretion. The aurora is a natural phenomenon — no operator can guarantee it — but our small-group lodge plus chase model maximizes your odds. Full terms in our FAQ.

How far in advance should I book?

We recommend booking at least 2-4 weeks ahead, especially during the December-February best-probability window. We fill up quickly with max 10 guests per night.

Do you offer hotel pickup?

Yes. Round-trip transportation included from Fairbanks core hotels, plus Morris Thompson Visitor Center for guests staying outside the city. Pickup window is 8-9 PM, return around 5 AM.

Ready to See the Aurora?
